The North York Moors National Park is one of the most stunning landscapes in the country. It really is a very special place and is on our own doorstep.
Community Archaeology Ltd was developed by Kevin Cale to involve the public in archaeology and has led to the development of a unique approach to studying the past, inspiring groups and schools to record their heritage. Kevin has become a good friend to our organisation giving invaluable help and advice in particular with the development of our heritage trails.
Tees Archaeology is the archaeological service for the four unitary local authorities of Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees and deals with all aspects of the archaeology of the lower Tees Valley.
At North Yorkshire County Record Office they collect, preserve, and make available a wealth of archive material relating to the history of the county of North Yorkshire.
Ryedale Folk Museum is a large open air museum with three acres of displays of life in the North York Moors. We hold a group membership of the museum.
The Dorman Museum forms part of Middlesbrough Council's 'Museums & Galleries Service'
English Heritage is the Government's statutory adviser on the historic environment. Officially known as the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England, they are an executive Non-Departmental Public Body sponsored by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. They are responsible for a number of buildings in our area, including Mount Grace Priory and Rievaulx Abbey which have been the subjects of organised visits by our group. They are also responsible for the Northern Archaeology Store in Helmsley. (See Event Factfiles on this site)
